For forty years I suffered from catarrhal laryngitis
For forty years I suffered from catarrhal laryngitis. Extra exertion often meant profuse perspiration, with resultant chill and throat irritation. I felt drafts so keenly that I feared to take off my hat near open windows. Little or no relief was received from the various doctors I had consulted; the last one, an eminent throat specialist, told me there was no cure for me, only slight alleviation. He said that the best course was a minor operation on the uvula from time to time. I had tried deep breathing, suggestion, and homeopathy with no satisfactory result. Then a friend told me of a wonderful cure of chronic gastritis which he had experienced from Christian Science treatment. Scarcely expecting relief, I asked a practitioner's aid. In about two weeks I felt as if a miracle had occurred, for the trouble of forty years' standing had vanished. This was over seven years ago. I could not contain my joy! I told everyone I met about it, and some obtained relief from the same source.
I should also acknowledge that at a time when I was smarting under a sense of injustice, and it seemed as if I was being consumed with bitterness, resentment, and hate, all the evil that was oppressing me disappeared as "in the twinkling of an eye." It was while I was saying that if only I could be rid of the hate that filled my thought, nothing of a material nature mattered, that peace stole into my consciousness.
I have felt for some time I ought to express my gratitude for Christian Science.
