Peace

Mankind is looking for peace, but often in every direction but the right one. Isaiah told how to find peace when he said, "The work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever." Spiritual peace is of God, a quality of divine Mind, and it is reflected by the real man. The divine right to be at peace is gained through doing "the work of righteousness."

Confusion and trouble are often found when peace is sought through the beliefs of material sense. One searches vainly for peace in fame, personal power, a personal sense of friendship, material wealth, human intellect, vain amusements, and false appetites. If one would find peace, vision must be lifted to Spirit. When a mortal looks over the prison walls of false material concepts, he gets a glimpse of man's true abode in the realm of Spirit. In this true spiritual realm one finds rest from weariness, healing for sickness, freedom from poverty, and joy in place of sorrow.

The Scriptures admonish, "Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace." Christian Science teaches that God, divine Love, is our Father-Mother, and that He is ever conscious of His own, constantly governing, guiding, and protecting His children. It teaches, further, that Love is the divine Principle which maintains all reality in perfect order by the unchanging law of good. Through this understanding of God one's problems may be solved in Christian Science. When trouble threatens, or seems at hand, the Christian Scientist, turning to God, divine Love, the source of spiritual peace, finds the happy solution. Christ Jesus gave a permanent invitation to all mankind to enter the realm of peace when he said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
