I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, although I had been considered frail. I was attracted to this wonderful truth by the happy faces of its adherents. After about a year I was confronted with a severe case of rheumatism, but had sufficient knowledge of Christian Science to know I wished no other help. The whole body was held captive: I was unable even to feed myself. This condition sought to attack the heart, also; but the so-called material law of fatality was broken. With my books propped up before me I eagerly sought for comfort from the Bible and our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I was never left comfortless. I shall never forget the untiring help of a dear practitioner; and when the day dawned that I could walk a short distance, my first trip was to a Christian Science church. This experience was a wonderful proof of God's healing power.

The tendency to frequent colds has been greatly lessened, and two cases of blood poisoning have been met by the affirmation of truth. One day when I was opening a can which had been heated to the boiling point, the contents went over my face, but the discomfort was quickly destroyed after I reversed my wrong thinking of one whom I had in mind at the time. The next day I visited a dentist, who said he did not notice any evidence of burning.

For the past eighteen years or more Christian Science has been my only physician, and I am beginning more clearly to realize my duty and privilege, as a child of God, to reflect the attributes of the kind and loving Father—my Father—your Father—"our Father." To express more love, more kindness, and to be a better witness for Truth, is my earnest desire. On page 233 of Science and Health we read: "Every day makes its demands upon us for higher proofs rather than professions of Christian power. These proofs consist solely in the destruction of sin, sickness, and death by the power of Spirit, as Jesus destroyed them. This is an element of progress, and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil."
