I wish to express my gratitude for a healing which came to me while doing some experimental work in a factory.

About ten o'clock in the morning I was working with an instrument which contained several ounces of a chemical used as a solvent for aniline dyes. This chemical is known as a dangerous thing to get into the eyes. Each container is labeled: "Keep from the eyes. Causes blindness!" The instrument which I was using came apart, and the contents of the jar attached were thrown with great force into my face, entering my right eye and covering one side of my face completely. This was followed by great pain, and I found myself on the floor unable to see. I expressed no fear whatever, but calmly and instantly declared the allness of God, that God's ever-presence protects man from all harm, and that no accident could possibly take place in His kingdom. I was still in great pain when loving hands rushed to my assistance. I was able to get to a separate room. Here, alone, I worked to know the truth, as we are taught in Christian Science. Then I went about my work again as usual. My face was swollen, and my eye greatly inflamed, and nearly closed. Noontime came, and I went to lunch in the usual manner. I returned and finished the day, accomplishing all that I had to do. My eye still pained very much, causing me great suffering.

When I arrived at my home I had dinner, and the members of my family went out for the evening, leaving me alone. One of my eyes was all right, and I read from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy for three hours. I retired at half past ten free from all pain. Most of the inflammation had gone from my eye, and with the exception of a small burn on the face I was as free as if nothing had occurred. I slept soundly and awakened in the morning as if nothing unusual had taken place the day before. Knowing the great care which is taken in the use of this chemical in regard to getting it in the eyes, I have every reason to believe my faith in and understanding of the allness of God freed me from what might have been a serious affair.
