I took up the study of Christian Science to help my little boy, who was in great need of physical healing. This was a last resource, as he was gradually wasting away under medical treatment. He was suffering from a diseased bone in his ankle. The doctor told me he had done all that could be done, and that I was to keep the child entirely off his feet for a year. As it seemed that he was not likely to live a year, I turned unreservedly to Christian Science. The practitioner quoted from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 514), "Mind's infinite ideas run and disport themselves;" so the child was left to freedom, and needless to say he was on his feet most of the time. He steadily improved, gaining weight and strength every day. The entire healing was slow, and sometimes I almost despaired of a complete healing; but I was greatly encouraged by many other healings which took place in our family, and so I pressed steadily on. A piece of bone worked out of his foot three days after the wound had apparently healed over. This was about six years ago, and the foot has given no more trouble. He is now perfectly well.
I hope this testimony will be a help to others whose healing seems slow. I think I progressed more when I stopped looking for physical results, and was content to leave that part to God, giving all my attention to casting out the errors that clouded my thought. I am very grateful for the loving patience of practitioners and for the help received from others, and to Mrs. Eddy, whose great love for mankind has made such healings possible for us in this age.
