Casseler Tageblatt

The religious teaching, Christian Science, is frequently judged by the numerous hostile accounts which have been published about it. The textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of this religion, proves that the aim of Christian Science is to bring a clear knowledge of primitive Christianity in all its phases to mankind again. The adherents of Christian Science are urged to endeavor to obey faithfully the teachings and example of Jesus as they have been handed down to us in the New Testament for all sincere Christians to emulate. Such an endeavor cannot be called antichristian.

It is erroneous to connect Christian Science with spiritualism, autosuggestion, and so forth. Chapters IV and V of the above-mentioned textbook are expressly directed against every kind of formulism, such as spiritualism, occultism, and all influence through human will-power.
