I rejoice that I may give testimony to the many blessings...

I rejoice that I may give testimony to the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science.

Although I was born in the United States and had my schooling there, I did not find the truth until I came to Germany. It was in the third year of the war. Our home life had greatly changed, due to the passing on of my beloved father two years before, and we had been forced to dispose of one thing after another to be able to live. I had never been brought up to work. Grief over the loss of my father and a great fear and inward trembling had resulted in mental depression and morbid thoughts. At times it seemed as if there were a dark wall before my thoughts which, try as I would, I could not penetrate.

I was in this state when one day a dear friend, an American, asked me to stop a moment with her at her friend's home. I shall never forget that day. I found in that home an atmosphere of peace such as I had never known before, and yet something which I knew I had always longed for. I did not understand what a Christian Science practitioner was or what a treatment meant, but I only longed to find some excuse to go there again. And with love and patience I was welcomed. That visit healed me of my poignant grief, and death lost its terrible claim to power over my thinking. That was ten years ago. Since then, thanks to the loving help constantly given, I have received many healings.
