My first knowledge of Christian Science was gained some...

My first knowledge of Christian Science was gained some years ago when I was spending a vacation in a small town where I had gone with a friend who was a Christian Scientist, and where all the guests were Scientists. I soon discovered that they had much that I did not have. They found no fault with the food; did not discuss the values of certain foods, nor the harmfulness of others. This I felt was a relief, and I accepted it as due to their religion, which seemed to be a workable one and something I had been looking for.

On returning home I began to investigate Christian Science. Upon reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I found things fitted. I had always been to Sunday school and church, but had failed to receive satisfactory explanations regarding creation, resurrection, and death. In the Christian Science textbook I found all these questions answered conclusively. My admiration for Mrs. Eddy was very great. To think of her persisting in presenting these truths to the world proved to me that she had demonstrated them herself and thus could show their possibility to others. I am grateful that my first acquaintance with Christian Science led me to know loyal followers of Mrs. Eddy.

Shortly after beginning my reading I was healed of eczema of the feet and hands, from which I had suffered since a small child, and which the best physicians had failed to cure. Following this, I was healed of stomach trouble for which physicians had recommended a rest each year. From these difficulties I was healed by reading the textbook. I am grateful for my daily association in business with Christian Scientists, who are so lovingly trying to express the Christ-spirit. (Miss) Sue W. Haggerty, Brookline, Massachusetts.
