Of the many blessings which our beloved Christian Science...
Of the many blessings which our beloved Christian Science has brought me I want to tell one in particular.
Three or four years ago, on a spring morning, I slipped and fell rather a long way on the stairs without apparently hurting myself. But to my surprise, the following day I found I must have displaced a nerve or muscle near the right collar bone, which made it difficult for me to move my arm, and caused suffering. In spite of my persistent work in Science, the pain, far from diminishing, increased little by little, so that by December of the same year it became impossible for me to raise my hand to the back of my neck or to move the arm backward.
As I lived alone, no one noticed the trouble, and I continued silently to affirm the truth. Then came January and February. One Sunday morning, in using my left hand instead of my right, I made such an awkward gesture that the nerve or muscle corresponding to the one which was injured, in its turn, was hurt. It was very painful, but the left arm still could be used. The day was spent in declaring the truth of being, without great result. When I arose the next morning it was impossible for me to move either of my arms.
