Many years ago, when Christian Science was first introduced into our family, immediate and wonderful changes took place in the health and in the home and business life of those who became interested. Remarkable healings were experienced, and to those that had "eyes to see," the outlook on life was transformed. There were some members of the family, however, who did not accept this truth; and I was one who had no use for this advanced thought, but, instead, built such a thick wall of prejudice around me that it entirely prevented my seeing any good whatever in Christian Science. I am always grateful to my mother for her wisdom in leaving me alone at that time, waiting until I really sought the truth for myself, instead of suggesting my attendance at the Sunday school or the church.

It was during the late war that I first became aware of my great need. My parents and I had gone to visit my brother in camp, and while there I suddenly realized that he and my mother had in their religion an understanding of God which was helping them, and that I lacked this understanding. There and then the whole wall of prejudice crumbled away, and I asked to know more of Christian Science. From that day the joy which had been for others became my experience too, and my entire manner of thinking was changed. I found that I had a practical religion, which could be applied to every duty of the day; and I soon began to wonder how I had ever lived without it.

At that time I was teaching, and it was not long before I felt the beneficial effects of this better thinking in overcoming attacks of throat trouble and fatigue. Two healings in those early days stand out very clearly to me to-day, and the lessons learned then have been very helpful many times since.
