When, in 1903, I first heard of Christian Science, I was suffering from an abdominal tumor and was under the care of a London specialist. I had to be examined every two months, as the physician said the tumor would probably have to be removed later on. At the same time, I was also in considerable pain, having strained the sinews in my shoulder, and was unable to lift my hand to my head.

One day, when I was visiting a bed-ridden friend, she told me a gentleman had lent her a book which would heal her. She also said, "He sits and prays for my recovery." I looked at the book. It was "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy; and this was the first time I had heard of it. I saw at once it was just what I had been searching for. I went up to London and bought Science and Health and other books written by Mrs. Eddy. I read with absorbed interest; and through reading the textbook I was healed of constipation, which had troubled me for many years. I then asked for help for the shoulder strain. This was healed entirely in less than a week. I received most patient and loving help from the practitioner for the tumor. It was rather longer before relief from this came; but about six weeks after beginning treatment I found the lump had entirely disappeared.

I am indeed grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us an understanding of God, our Father-Mother. Of His love and protection I have constant proofs. I am also very grateful to the practitioners for their loving help.—(Mrs.) Dorothy Bartrum, Bromley, Kent, England.
