The first great joy which Christian Science brought to...

The first great joy which Christian Science brought to me was the realization that it is a scientific, exact, and provable religion. From the first reading of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, it began to minister to that spiritual hunger which had never been satisfied. The joy of knowing and being able to prove in some degree that God, good, is All, planted my feet on solid spiritual ground. This is, to-day, after fifteen years' experience, a growing cause for gratitude.

I can reverently affirm that Christian Science has never failed to supply my needs when I have faithfully and obediently applied its teachings. I am grateful that even when I have seemed to fail, sooner or later, either in the Bible, the Christian Science textbook, one of Mrs. Eddy's other books, or in the Christian Science periodicals or lectures, some declaration of Truth has shown me where the mistake lay, and guided me to a wiser course. This has taken the sting of condemnation and regret out of one experience which seemed particularly puzzling and bitter. I am more grateful than I can say for the discipline of character which this healing involved. It is the power of Truth to evangelize and correct the false human tendencies in my thinking which is to me the pearl without price in Christian Science.

The many physical healings which I have experienced are but the outward symbols of the inner regeneration which is slowly but surely taking place in my consciousness. Even though at times it seems to be rather an uphill and painful process, I truly rejoice at every bit of spirituality which I gain. The joy of each upward step is the most precious experience I have ever had. I am especially grateful for the enlightenment which the Church Manual has afforded me in this connection.
