It is fifteen years since Christian Science came to me in the darkest hour of my life, when it seemed as if there was not a ray of light to lead out of the darkness. Doctors had told me there was not a normal organ in my body. The loss of a little daughter and bitter disappointment in some one I had dearly loved had made me long to die. A neighbor handed me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had never heard of Christian Science before, and knew nothing of its literature; nor had I ever talked with a Christian Scientist. In a short time I was healed simply through reading Science and Health. I became so absorbed in it that, for the time being, I was unconscious of my sick, tired body; and I shall never forget when the light came! The spiritual uplift was glorious, and this first glimpse of the truth in Science healed me of a floating kidney, serious bowel difficulty, a weak heart, and insomnia. Many times I had prayed, when my burdens seemed too great to be borne, that I might die, or that I would not be satisfied until I understood why these things had to be. Now those old days seem to me like a bad dream, these new days being glimpses of the kingdom of God.
Is it any wonder that I am profoundly grateful? I have never ceased to be thankful for the Christian Science literature, which always brings me something that supplies my need or corrects some wrong thought. Christian Science has been my constant help in working out financial problems and in caring for my children. My desire is to be worthy of being called a Christian Scientist.
