I was led to Christian Science about three years ago after...
I was led to Christian Science about three years ago after I had doctored for about eighteen months for what two of our best physicians pronounced a nervous breakdown. Up to this time I had known nothing about God,—that is, of the God of love. My healing in Christian Science was slow; in fact I got discouraged after about the first month's study and went back to material means for help. I found a friend who was living in the country trying to regain his health, and I joined him, thinking the open air life would cure me. I spent about four months with him, but did not find peace of mind. I returned to my home in the city, and again called on the dear practitioner that I had been to see some months before. She told me that the seed was sown, and that if I would do my part my demonstration would be made. I began studying in earnest, but did not make much progress until she told me the importance of gratitude. Up to this time I had in mind only the complete healing, forgetting to be grateful for the many improvements that manifested themselves; and when I began counting my blessings, my healing came rapidly. To-day I am enjoying better health than I ever had before. In addition to this physical healing I have been healed of many other discordant conditions, and I never can express gratitude enough for the moral and spiritual uplift. I have also been helped in my business; and love and harmony have replaced rivalry, jealousy, and discord in the office.
I am grateful to God; to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; and to Mary Baker Eddy, our Leader. I am also thankful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for class instruction, and for all our periodicals. I wish to state that all I have I owe to Christian Science.
