Truth's Voice

MANY of those who are not familiar with Christian Science and its teachings are constantly seeking, through material so-called sciences, the solution of the numerous problems that confront them in human experience. But problems thus handled are never really solved; they constantly reappear, accompanied by fear, sin, limitation, accident, death, and innumerable other discords that result from belief in the testimony of the five corporeal senses.

To those working out their problems through the study and application of Christian Science, as discovered by Mary Baker Eddy, there is a gradual and constant unfoldment of Truth that heals every discordant condition. The student of Christian Science soon learns that he has an infinite, ever present divine Principle whose laws he can apply in reasoning himself out of the beliefs of limitation and sickness to the understanding that health and harmony are the manifestation of the one omnipotent Mind, God. He learns that matter, which is nonintelligent, cannot be treated; that man as the expression of God's being does not need to be treated; and that God, good, is not to be treated. He therefore finds that ignorance of God, erroneous human beliefs, and fear of a power apart from the infinite Mind, are destroyed by spiritual understanding, and that this understanding makes way for the voice of Truth, which, obeyed, brings spiritual healing.

While speaking to one who is not a Christian Scientist, the writer expressed his desire to find the divine Principle of being, as demonstrated by Christ Jesus; to understand in a practical, demonstrable way the one Mind, God, who has created and governs all harmoniously, and to prove in daily experience the nothingness of material laws. He was told that this was impossible, as there were no textbooks from which to find and use such a Principle! The writer knew, however, that there are textbooks which teach us to know God and man, as Principle and idea, perfect and indestructible. He knew that the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, are the textbooks which all may use for that purpose, and that by obedience to the teachings of Christ Jesus, the prophets, and the apostles, as explained by Mrs. Eddy in her writings, men are inspired and healed by the same Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus." On page 110 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says, "The Bible was my only textbook." She also says on the same page, "No human pen nor tongue taught me the Science contained in this book, Science And Health; and neither tongue nor pen can overthrow it."
