Christian Science was presented to me about fifteen years ago. For twenty-seven years I had been a great sufferer from nervous headaches, and any irregularity of life would throw me into weeks of suffering. Everything possible in the way of so-called medical science was done for me. My father, two brothers, and many relatives were medical doctors. I wore glasses for fifteen years; tried electric baths and osteopathy; submitted to a minor operation; tried change of climate: in fact, every possible remedy known at that time was resorted to.

One day a seamstress expressed sympathy for me, and said it seemed too bad to see one in such pain unnecessarily. She asked me if I had tried Christian Science, or would ridicule one who was a Christian Scientist. I told her I would not ridicule what I did not know anything about. She then said she was a Christian Scientist. She told me that I was ready for Christian Science. I asked for help; and it was lovingly given. I immediately read all the literature she brought me, and had wonderful results. The Bible had always seemed more or less a mystery, but I can say everything is being made clear and comprehensible with the wonderful help of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. My healing was slow, but sure. I had many things to overcome. I was, indeed, an example of what Mrs. Eddy says on page 382 of Science and Health: "A patient thoroughly booked in medical theories is more difficult to heal through Mind than one who is not."

For the past twelve years I have lived about twenty-two miles from the nearest town. The Lesson-Sermons and Christian Science literature have been a wonderful comfort and help. I am thankful for membership in The Mother Church. Words fail to express my gratitude to our Father-Mother God, to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy. My one prayer is to live so as to be worthy to be called a Christian Scientist.
