Christian Science teaches that the adjective "real" can be accurately applied only to God and His spiritual creation,—to things spiritual and eternal. Disease is not real, since it is not a creation of God, and because it is neither spiritual nor eternal. This is far from saying, however, that disease does not seem real to the carnal mind. And it is only as the carnal mind gives place to the Mind which was in Christ Jesus that the unreality of disease can be scientifically understood and demonstrated. Jesus said of the daughter of Jairus, "She is not dead, but sleepeth," words which show that he understood the unreality of the phenomenon called death. And it was the Master's understanding of spiritual realities which enabled him to prove the unreality of disease and death by healing the sick and raising the dead.
