My gratitude to God for the innumerable blessings which have come to us during the eighteen years of our experience in Christian Science is unbounded. One of these blessings was the complete healing of our son from very serious injuries received in an automobile accident. In fact, the fractures of his limbs were considered so serious by some of the physicians at the hospital that they declared he would never be able to walk without crutches. But, thanks to Christian Science, he is perfectly normal, and able to indulge in all the sports which a normal boy enjoys.
Space will not permit me to tell of all the good resulting from this healing. Suffice it to say, two of the nurses and an orderly at the hospital became interested in Christian Science; the head surgeon's son is now attending our Sunday school. The third day after the accident the assistant surgeon said: "I don't know anything about the teachings of Christian Science, but we have a very wonderful proof of its power to heal right here. Do you know that that boy's chin, which was cut to the bone, has practically been healed in three days?" I asked him if it did not seem remarkable to him that the boy never uttered a word of complaint. Before he could reply the boy said, "Well, why should I, when it never hurt?" The courage, patience, and cheerfulness reflected by the child, due to his knowledge of Christian Science, won the hearts of all who came in contact with him.
We are deeply grateful to the faithful practitioner who helped us through this trying experience; and we shall also never cease to be grateful to the surgeons and nurses for the love shown us. This experience again proved to us that nothing is impossible to God; and that, although our understanding of Christian Science may not always be equal to preventing us from being thrown into the lions' den, it does enable us to come out unharmed. My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her clear revelation of Truth to this age cannot be expressed in words.
