I was very much interested lately in reading an article in The Christian Science Monitor entitled, "Help Me Get a Position," in which it showed how in Christian Science it was just as easy to demonstrate the truth about a position as it was to heal the sick and sinful. While reading this article I was reminded of a demonstration of a similar nature that was brought out in my own experience a short time ago.

About nine months ago I was called into the private office of the firm by whom I was then employed, and was told that, owing to financial conditions, it had been found necessary to cut down their staff by letting the single employees go, and making adjustments in salary in the case of the married men. For some time I had foreseen some such changes, and had been quietly looking around, but without any success. When the above information was received, in order to clear myself of the sense of any injustice, I saw a practitioner; and in the short talk I had with him this claim was entirely eliminated. My next step was to keep clearly and definitely before my thought that, as God's spiritual image, I could not be out of a position, as every one of God's ideas was right here and now in his right place, environment, and employment; and that nothing could keep this truth from becoming apparent to me. For three weeks there were no developments, when, from a most unexpected source, I received an offer; but as it did not seem suitable I refused it. This brought me up to within a week of the time when mortal sense claimed, "You will be out of employment;" but I did not seem in the least anxious; and I again worked for a clearance of the mist. The answer came the next day. An offer of a good post in another city was received from a firm who did not know me personally. The salary offered was an increase over what I had been receiving, and in a very short time all arrangements were satisfactorily settled.

While grateful for the demonstration, the part that impressed, and still impresses me most was the entire absence of anxiety or fear that the position would not be manifested when needed, and the elimination of self. This change necessitated my removal to a university city, and was made just after the colleges had opened; and on arrival I was told very emphatically that it would be impossible to find a boarding-house. Inside of four hours after my arrival, exceptionally comfortable quarters were found, and other difficulties overcome.
