In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 449) Mrs. Eddy writes: "A grain of Christian Science does wonders for mortals, so omnipotent is Truth, but more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing." Students of this truth are daily proving its power, in the degree they understand and trust the omnipotence of God. I most gratefully value the following demonstration of Truth's almighty power.

I had placed the attachment to an electric iron in the wall-socket and, holding the plug in one hand to connect the iron, I reached with the other to turn a near-by faucet. The electric current passed through my arms, increasing every second the tightening grip of my hands on faucet and plug. Knowing God's presence, I stood alone with Him. The word "God" was the only thought I could hold. What more was there to hold, since He is All, and our sufficiency in every need and pleasure! I heard a sound; and with it I had gained my freedom. Truth unclasped my hand; the plug had fallen to the floor. My gratitude was boundless; yet, another argument for death came. I repeated "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468); and, immediately, the heart action was perfectly normal. I finishes my pressing, with a deep sense of gratitude for what I thought a complete healing; until, later, I reentered the room, and error argued, This is where I had that dreadful experience. Truth affirmed, Thank God, here is where I came face to face with Him, and proved His power. The healing was then complete; and Truth had given a clearer vision that "more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing."
