In my youth I was educated in a denominational faith
In my youth I was educated in a denominational faith. After my studies I began teaching in a Lutheran school. I searched for God in many churches but could not find Him. I looked for healing in sanitariums, clinics, and hospitals, but in vain. The material senses seemed to overwhelm my being and so I wandered in error until I received some copies of Der Herold der Christian Science which were sent to me by my son. That same day my wife and I began to read with the greatest interest, and the more we read the more interested we became and we were eager to grasp the truth that reveals the eternal law of God. Indeed the path which we have entered through the teachings of Christian Science is wonderful.
In the Herolds we often found references to the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and longed for that book. This wish, too, has been fulfilled. The textbook was sent to us and we read and study it every day. We feel that after many years of searching and investigating we have now found the right way to the knowledge of Truth, Life, and Love. Through our study my wife has been healed of severe catarrh. She had also suffered for many years from a sprained foot, the pain returning at every quick movement. These healings were the first results, and I hope and pray that our earnest study will result in even greater ones. I have also witnessed the power of Christian Science in the healing of a woman who had for many years suffered from terrible headaches and pains in the spine.
Since studying Christian Science the horror of war has been forgotten, and fear, anxiety, and need do not trouble us any more. This was very different formerly, but now we have learned that God is our Father, ever with us, ever protecting, healing, governing, and teaching us. Our thankfulness to God for His mercy and kindness is great, and we gratefully think of Mrs. Eddy, who, through her work, has enabled us to find the truth.
