I have been to so many of our Wednesday evening meetings...
I have been to so many of our Wednesday evening meetings intending to give my testimony, but somehow I have never been able to make this demonstration. However, I can at least send it to our periodicals and in that way express something of the gratitude I feel for Christian Science. I know I shall make the demonstration of giving the oral testimony some time. I have had many physical healings through Christian Science, including that of a bad case of blood poisoning, bowel hemorrhages, nearsightedness, pleurisy, and influenza.
I wish especially to express my gratitude for the Christian Science reading rooms. During many years of business life I so enjoyed and appreciated the reading rooms. I went there almost every day, sometimes for a few minutes but more often for an hour, and always came away refreshed. It is a wonderful privilege when in the turmoil of business life to be able to slip away to the reading rooms for even a short time. I recalled recently one instantaneous healing I had while there. Six years ago I had a severe fall which resulted in an internal injury from which I suffered daily for a year and a half, and one day while on my way to the reading room I was suffering more intensely than ever and I realized that I must gain a better understanding of God to be healed, or go to a practitioner for help at once. I went to the reading room and sat down and studied for perhaps an hour, and when I arose from the reading table I realized that I was healed, and there has never been the slightest return. As Paul said, I had been "absent from the body" and "present with the Lord."
I cannot find words to express the gratitude I feel for Christian Science and for its great Discoverer, May Baker Eddy, for the wonderful organization and for the many avenues through which Christian Science is sent out into the world. I am also grateful to the loving practitioners, to the librarians, and to other Christian Scientists who have helped me so much along the way; also for membership in The Mother Church and in our local branch church.
