Through a Christian Science Sentinel sent to me by a...
Through a Christian Science Sentinel sent to me by a kind friend, I began the study of Christian Science. At first I was afraid to lift the cover, fearing it might be against the Bible, but when I began to read it soon became plain to me that it was good. As far back as I can remember I had been in bondage to material medicine. One evening I was taken suddenly with trembling and "nosebleed" and sent for a doctor who had attended my family for several years and in whom we all had great confidence. After he was gone I turned entirely from drugs and began the study of Christian Science in earnest. I have had many healings through the help of practitioners. Although some things have seemed slow to yield I have never had a doubt in regard to Christian Science being the truth, for it has never failed me.
I had always been so full of fear it took me some time to realize God's presence, and through that realization I have been healed many times. I was first healed of severe sick headaches, of the result of accidents, the dread of being alone, the fear of lack, and of anxiety and worry, also of blood poisoning resulting from kidney trouble, for which healing I have no words to express my gratitude to God, who is "my refuge and my fortress." I am trying to live just in to-day and to do unto others as I would have them do unto me. I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy, and for the periodicals, which are invaluable to me. As dear companions, I cherish them all. I am also grateful to all who contribute to them. My prayer is for more light and wisdom from on high in which to prove my gratitude to God for Christian Science.
