In August, in 1909, I had almost lost the use of my right hand and arm from rheumatism. Our family physician kindly told me there was no need to take medicine as it would not cure me, but to go to the sanitarium again. I had decided I would never go there again, so Christian Science found me surrounded by dark clouds. A dear friend called a practitioner for me; she lovingly responded and in a few weeks I was healed. I have not taken medicine since. Christian Science has comforted me in sorrow; the Bible and Science and Health have been my daily companions. I am thankful for all I have received, for the spiritual uplift and for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church. As Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 264), "Spiritual living and blessedness are the only evidences by which we can recognize true existence and feel the unspeakable peace which comes from an all-absorbing spiritual love."
