With the dawning of each day, the unfolding of each...
With the dawning of each day, the unfolding of each spiritual idea, comes new joy and gratitude that I am privileged to be a wayfarer on the road of Truth and to follow to some extent the example of Christ Jesus, as pointed out by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Since coming into Christian Science, some six years ago, I have had many proofs of God's care. Whereas I was always considered a very frail child and young woman and was constantly under the care of a physician, I am now well and strong. Chronic bowel trouble, stomach disorder, headaches, and general debility have vanished into their native nothingness as I have assimilated the truths taught in Christian Science and have discarded the old beliefs for the understanding of the truth. The spiritual uplift is, however, the priceless gift, compared with which the physical healing is insignificant. The Bible is loved and studied as never before, and I know of nothing so dear to me as the spiritual food, with which I am daily fed and sustained.
My three children have relied on Christian Science treatment during this time, and only a short time ago my seven-year-old son was most beautifully healed. A little playfellow accidently pierced the child's sandal, stocking, and foot with a prong of a pitchfork. At first it was thought that the prong had gone entirely through the foot, but this proved not to be so. After the wound had been washed and dressed, a practitioner was asked to treat the child, and in six days he was running around as usual. During that time there were many fears to be overcome, as there were constant suggestions of infection, broken bones, or lockjaw. Each phase of error was met and conquered, however, and I was strengthened through the experience. Once, when the wound seemed red and inflamed, I found myself suddenly a victim of fear, and was ready to run in terror to inform the practitioner; but I found my help at hand in the passage, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God." Immediately all fear vanished, and through the purifying, cleansing process of right thinking, God's child was revealed perfect as the Father.
For this healing and many others my heart overflows with gratitude. My greatest desire is so to live that my light may shine, and that others, seeing my good works, may glorify our Father in heaven—according to Jesus' command.
