I think it a great privilege as well as a duty to testify to the power of God. Eight years ago, when Christian Science was first presented to me, I was sick in both mind and body. Not only was I miserable, but I made everybody around me miserable. Physically I suffered most from organic trouble, including bowel and stomach disorders, but failure to live up to what I thought was right caused me even greater suffering mentally. When first reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, all I could grasp was that it healed people. I read constantly and was quickly freed from a good many ailments, but I soon saw that to understand and live this Science one must do more than overcome a physical ailment by knowing the truth about it. It dawned on me that we must be healed of our wrong thinking about God and man. There was such a readjusting to do here that it seemed very difficult to accomplish at first, but by studying and applying the truth as I understood it, I feel I have begun to lay off the old man and put on the new. Where once I was filled with fear, impatience, and selfishness, there is now more love, patience, and unselfishness manifested. My little daughter has had many beautiful healings through our understanding of this glorious truth. The song on page 93 of our Hymnal has always been such a help to us, and whenever we have dropped our burdens at His feet, we have certainly borne a song away.
While there is no Christian Science church where we live, and none but myself and two other ladies read the literature, we know that God is as present with a few as with many and can rejoice in this assurance. I feel very grateful to God for the many proofs of His love which have been given to me through Christian Science, and am indeed thankful to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer of this glorious truth.
