Eight years ago, while waiting for a train in Los Angeles, California, I picked up a copy of The Christian Science Journal, and found in it the religion I had been searching for. I had always been taught that God punished us severely for our misdeeds, but could not see how a God who was all love could do such things; so I had almost become an infidel. Words cannot express how thankful I am that I found the truth that God is Love; as we read in the Bible, "Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

While reading the Bible, which has become a new book to me, together with Science and Health, I was healed of stomach trouble after having been unable for years to eat the things I liked. Heart disease was readily overcome, and catarrh has almost disappeared. For years I would at times lose my voice and would cough continually; the least bit of cold air seemed to bring on a spell of coughing, and the doctor said there was no cure for it. It is eight years since I was healed of this trouble. I had worn glasses for several years and could not take them off without suffering pain in my head and eyes; but when I began to study Christian Science I laid aside glasses, and my eyes and head never trouble me now. A severe burn caused by spilling boiling water on my arm was healed in a few days. I did not suffer any pain from it, did not even look to see how bad the burn was, but instantly declared the truth about God's child. Colds, too, are readily overcome. When we realize that the Word of God is true, that He has given us dominion to overcome both sin and sickness, the healing is quickly brought about and we rest safely in the arms of Love. The ninetyfirst psalm is so full of promises; each day I realize more of the blessed truths contained therein, and I can place my loved ones in God's care and know they are safe.

I am deeply thankful to our loved Leader, who so patiently traveled in our Savior's footsteps and gave us our authorized literature, which is a great help in explaining the Word of Life. One can never thank God enough for His love and care.
