It is with a heart full of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me that I write this testimony. For seven years I suffered (and when I say suffered, it applies more to mental than to physical suffering) from a skin eruption on my face. At that time I was a girl of sixteen and deeply conscious of this condition. I had tried every material remedy that had been recommended by friends and physicians, had taken various kinds of treatment, such as electrical massages, but nothing relieved the condition, which seemed to be growing worse all the time. I had reached the point where I did not care to go out because of the way I looked. Even the desire to attend church and Sunday school left me the last two years before I came to Christian Science. I had grown despondent, and spent many weary hours wondering why I had to endure the disfigurement, which I had not knowingly brought upon myself. I stopped going to church, because I did not feel that it did me any good.

About three years ago my mother, who had known of Christian Science for some time, and in fact had experienced a wonderful healing, asked me if I would not try Christian Science, since I had tried everything else to no avail. I had not the slightest idea what it was, but had reached the point where I was more than willing to try anything. My first visit to the practitioner was a beautiful experience, in which I forgot all my seeming troubles while listening to the truth which was so lovingly told me. I realized that no matter what seemed to be, the only thing I had to know was the goodness and love of God, and man in His likeness.

I can now say that the diseased condition has been overcome; the healing seemed slow, but it made me a devoted student of Christian Science, since I realized that in order to be healed I must seek to keep my consciousness filled with truth and love as a result of consecreated study of the Bible and Science and Health. After my first visit to the practitioner, glasses, which I had put on through the advice of a specialist, were laid aside, although I had been told to wear them for several years for what he diagnosed as a severe muscular trouble. I never know now what it is to have headaches, whereas before that time I had suffered almost daily with them. I am at work in the business world, and do not know what I would do without Christian Science. It helps me to overcome difficulties and seeming inharmonies, as I could not do without this knowledge of Truth.
