It has been a source of great joy to me to be able to realize the guidance of ever present Love in the so-called little affairs of daily life, also Love's ability to bring order out of chaos and to supplant fear with confidence.

Several months ago my daughter was returning from her work earlier than usual one day and stopped at the home of a friend. She had with her quite a sum of money in her purse, which she carried in her muff. The friend was at a neighbor's on the other side of the street, so my daughter crossed over. On the way back to her friend's house the purse dropped from the muff and was not missed until some two hours later. My daughter then came home and related the circumstance to her father and me. We took a lantern and searched as thoroughly as was possible by this light, and returned next morning and went over the ground as soon as it was light enough to see, again searching thoroughly. We had all been working for some time on the problem of seemingly great financial loss, in which our home and the means of much greater educational advantages for the children had apparently been swept away, and at the time this incident occurred we were just coming into a clearer realization of what true substance is. We had also proved in many previous instances the truth of our Leader's words (Science and Health, p. 510), "Science reveals only one Mind, and this one shining by its own light and governing the universe, including man, in perfect harmony." This seemed to eliminate every thought of fear, and brought more clearly to our consciousness the fact that the activities of Mind are harmonious under all circumstances.

In the morning, inasmuch as there was no name in the purse by which the owner could be identified, a friend recommended that an advertisement be inserted in one of the daily papers. This advice was followed, and about half an hour later the telephone rang, and the newspaper office informed us that some one was there with the purse and wanted to know what should be done with it. A great sense of gratitude for this added proof of Love's guidance almost prevented my answering at once. I however replied that my daughter would call in the course of the day, identify the purse, and pay whatever was due for their trouble; but the man answered very decidedly, saying that we owed nothing, as the advertisement had not been printed, but he could not understand why anyone should walk into their office with the purse within fifteen minutes after the advertisement had been telephoned in, and he should feel so confident it was ours. Another beautiful proof of Love's leading was the fact that the purse was found within four blocks of our home, but the finder went many blocks from there, down into the heart of the city, and picked out this particular newspaper office (the one most inconvenient of all to reach), and also refused every offer of reward, accepting carfare only.
