The Lectures

Orange, N. J. (First Church).—Virgil O. Strickler, lecturer; introduced by H. H. Schell, who said in part:—

Christian Science is not a new religion or doctrine, but it is the fulfilling of the entire command of Christ Jesus, who sent out his disciples not only to preach the gospel but to heal the sick. The power of healing is not new, nor was it new at the time of Jesus. All the ancient prophets had a glimpse of the Christ, and in proportion to their understanding of the Christ-idea were they able to demonstrate this healing power. For nearly two thousand years healing was not a part of the Christian religion, although the Founder of this religion healed the multitudes and used his healing power to prove his Messiahship. Mrs. Eddy has, therefore, not given us a new religion, but she has revealed to us the beautiful religion of Christ Jesus and proved that this power to heal which was his is also ours.

Richmond, Va. (First Church).—Clarence W. Chadwick, lecturer; introduced by Lieut. Edward W. Dickey, chaplain in the National Army and now stationed at Camp Lee, who said in part:—
