Nine years ago, while reading one of the Christian Science pamphlets to please a friend, I was instantaneously healed of chronic bowel trouble, from which I had suffered since early childhood. Material aid had failed to bring this healing, though I had resorted to many drugs and other remedies. After a serious illness brought on by this malady some years before Christian Science found me, I was told I must wear a bandage, and would probably have to do so the remainder of my life. Under this law the bandage was worn for a good many years, but when Christian Science healed me I was released from fear, and in a short time was able to remove the bandage without anxiety or any bad after effects. I slept that night like a babe, and awoke refreshed. I did not realize I was healed, but felt very happy and wanted to know more about Christian Science. I attended the meetings and in a short time bought a copy of Science and Health.

While my heart is overflowing with gratitude for all my physical healings, and the overcoming of the fear of everything and everybody, even to a draft of fresh air, I am most grateful for the spiritual uplift, for the joy and peace in the understanding of God as Principle and of man as His image and likeness, the consciousness of the power of Truth and Love to meet every need. I am also grateful for the light that has been thrown on the Bible, which was once a sealed book to me, but which I now love to read and study. I had been a great slave to medicine,—indeed it was a god to me; but I soon realized I would need it no more, and for nine years God has been my only physician, ever present and always available.

The little things in life are what count, and there are none too poor to give a pleasant smile, a kind and encouraging word, or do a kind act, for the world needs love, and surely we can all reflect this. I am happy in the understanding that heaven is not a locality which one has to die to reach, but a state of consciousness here and now. The Bible says, "The kingdom of God is within you," and surely a happy consciousness is a taste of heaven. I give this testimony with deep gratitude, and with the desire to help some weary searcher to find the truth. No matter what the need, by applying this truth with understanding we may find the Comforter that never faileth.
