In gratitude to God for all the blessings I have received...
In gratitude to God for all the blessings I have received through Christian Science, I would like to testify to the following. As early as 1912 I was suffering with very painful rheumatism, which became so severe as time went on that it was barely possible for me to stay out of bed even for a short time. My wife had to dress me and assist me in every way. The physicians from whom I sought relief were unable to help me. One said the trouble was gout, and that before another year had gone by I would be utterly helpless.
I went on suffering in this way until the fall of 1913, when dear relatives drew my attention to Christian Science. At first the thought of it did not exactly appeal to me, but when cases of healing through Christian Science were proved to me to be true, I decided to give it a trial. I then applied to a practitioner for treatment, which was taken up lovingly. Although he took a great deal of trouble to point out to me the love and goodness of our heavenly Father, things did not improve. I then had recourse to other means, but soon felt that it was not the way that would lead to healing, and thereupon I went back to Christian Science. Through the practitioner's renewed treatment and loving encouragement the error finally yielded, for which I am most deeply grateful. In about half a year's time I was able to walk without any difficulty, and now, despite my age of sixty-five, am in full health and strength. I am sure that the healing which has come to me through Christian Science is due solely to the infinite goodness of divine Love.
Through reading the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I have reached the point where I joyfully trust Him who gives bountifully and helps those that rely on Him. I thank God from the depths of my heart, and am grateful to our faithful Leader, and to all who have helped me in my endeavor to know Him.
