This testimony is given in grateful acknowledgment of the help received in Christian Science by myself and family. Although I did not come to Science for physical healing, the following is one of many proofs of the efficacy of Truth to heal. About six years ago, while feeling much troubled because of sickness in the home, a sense of lack and also of discouragement, I began to question why prayer was not answered, and earnestly to ask to know my relation to God. One day I was privileged to read the chapter on Prayer in Science and Health, and it was plain to me, as it says on page 10, that "there is some misapprehension of the source and means of all goodness and blessedness, or we should certainly receive that for which we ask." I at once began the study of Christian Science, attending services regularly, and studying the Bible with the help of the Christian Science Quarterly and Science and Health.

Two years later I began to have serious difficulty with one of my eyes. There seemed to be paralysis of the eyelid, with ulcers forming under it and deep inflammation of the eyeball. Having gained a little understanding of the truth taught in Christian Science, I was sure it was possible to be healed, so although able to read only a little at a time, I continued the study of Christian Science. After about four months, as the conditions did not improve, there was a great deal of fear entertained by the members of the family who were not interested in Christian Science, as well as by friends. I finally consented to go to an oculist, but told him I did so under protest. Up to this time I had no pain in the eyeball, but after the material remedies were used, both eyes showed the same trouble, and pain was also felt in both.

Without telling any one, I discontinued the use of material remedies. Relief was experienced at once, and a slow but steady improvement in conditions began. In five months more all trace of the trouble had disappeared. At the present time no one can see any difference in my eyes. There is no regret for the long period of time covered in this experience, as many helpful lessons were learned. The oculist has since said that there is no cure in materia medica for this condition, which finally leads to total loss of the eye. Surely God does heal all our diseases.
