Victoria, Australia.—Increase of interest on the part of the press has been evidenced during the year by remarks made to the committee on publication personally by members of editorial and reporting staffs, and by the almost entire absence of scoff in the editorial columns of the Melbourne dailies. The "Tract on the Christian Science Movement" which was threatened last year in the report of the publications committee of the Presbyterian Assembly, materialized in a special editorial in the organ of that denomination, answer to which was rejected by the editor of the paper but was published through another medium and circulated among the Presbyterian clergy, since which time there has been no recurrence of the flouts and gibes on Christian Science and Christian Scientists which were formerly not infrequent in that paper.
