Mercifully for us, God does not withhold His blessings...
Mercifully for us, God does not withhold His blessings from mankind, although we so often delay in giving expression to our gratitude. Apathy, or lack of appreciation of the incalculable blessings that are inseparable because part of Christian Science healing, keeps us silent, until Truth itself lovingly forces us to acknowledge our benefits. Once awake to the duty and privilege of testifying to Truth's quick and thorough healing, we rejoice to tell of our experiences, knowing that some one will be helped, maybe freed from just such faults and failings, or sicknesses, as those from which we have been delivered.
The day I bought the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and read the Preface and the chapter on Prayer, I was freed from the bondage of cigarette smoking, a habit in which I had indulged for a number of years. The same week I was able to give up material remedies which I had taken by a doctor's orders for many years. As I gradually grew in understanding, and learned that divine Mind sustains man, I gave up taking medicine at any time, and instead of feeling any sense of loss, I daily grew stronger. This was a great proof to me of the sufficiency of the spirit of Truth and Love to support and maintain man always and at all times.
Through the faithful and loving work of a practitioner I have been healed of an internal weakness of many years' standing, from which I suffered great pain, also from a tendency to have an attack of acute throat trouble and influenza every winter. My people dreaded the very name of influenza, as each attack left me in a still weaker and more nervous condition. Since my healing in Christian Science, all fear of a return of the ailment has disappeared, not only from my consciousness but from theirs. A fractured thumb was healed without pain (except for the first few minutes) in less than three weeks, and although it was not set by a surgeon for thirty-six hours after the accident, there was no inflammation or discomfort.
