Christian Science has been a revelation to me, and it is a...
Christian Science has been a revelation to me, and it is a great pleasure, as well as a privilege, for me to testify to its efficacy as a healing and saving agency. I have been helped by Christian Science in many ways, mentally, morally, and physically. My first physical healing was instantaneous, for in one treatment I was freed from a chronic bowel disorder and stomach trouble. I am glad to say that this healing has been permanent; also, that it was followed by the laying off of glasses, which I had worn for what was said to be a structural defect. From that time, four years ago, Truth, as revealed in Christian Science, has been my only physician and has never failed. I am certainly appreciative of these physical benefits, but more marked has been the moral and spiritual change in my life during these years. All desire for liquor, smoking, and those things which formerly seemed pleasurable and necessary, has been destroyed, and with this change has come a peace and happiness before unknown.
Formerly in my business there was fear of unfavorable results, doubt of my own judgment, worry over petty annoyances of the day, etc.; but there is now a conscious, constant understanding of the source of supply. I know that I am about my Father's business, and that the governing Principle overcomes all difficulties and brings harmony and success. The Bible was a closed book to me for twenty-two years, for I did not attempt to read it, and if I had done so without Science and Health, our "Key to the Scriptures," I could not have obtained the spiritual meanings, without which one has not a clear understanding of Truth. I knew nothing about the life of Jesus, the Wayshower, but now his words and works are my constant companions. Christian Scientists know that he had spiritual wisdom and understanding above all others, and they are trying to emulate him in his healing and regenerating work.
For the blessings that have come to me I am truly thankful,—thankful to God for His ever-present, protecting care, and grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for showing us how to avail ourselves of the loving and protecting care of God in our human needs, here and now. I am also grateful for having had class instruction, and for the periodicals, which always contain many helpful thoughts.
