[Written for the Sentinel]

Cheerfulness

Our lives are in keeping of Love divine,—
What need to be downcast and fearful?
Are we trusting God if we repine?
'Tis the best of good sense to be cheerful.
So, banish your clouds away,
And you'll find 'tis a brighter day.
A soursop's face has weakness and fear in it,—
Be smiling and valiant, there's great good cheer in it.
Banish your clouds away, my brothers,
And send good cheer to the hearts of others!
