Some seven years ago, disgusted with the life I was living, and just about at the point where our home was likely to be broken up as the result of my habits, I turned to my wife, upon her final appeal to me to quit drinking, and like a drowning man grasping at a straw, told her I was ready to do anything she advised. She had very little knowledge then of the remedy she proposed, but she said I might try Christian Science. I sought a practitioner, and was speedily healed of the liquor habit of long standing, the tobacco habit, and all the destroying tendencies and meannesses that the whisky habit develops and fosters. I was not only healed of the desire for stimulants of all kinds, but I rose above the thought that I was missing some pleasure or enjoyment. This was the greatest satisfaction of all, and due to the fact that I found something tangible to take its place. I know it is possible for every one to obtain the same healing as I did if he will but turn away from matter for happiness and seek good through spiritual means.

I found unspeakable peace, joy, and freedom, a clarity of vision and purpose that I had long dreamed of as an attainment to be desired; but I thought it would be realized through material methods, through some wonderful drug perhaps. I am grateful for Christian Science because of the understanding it gives of God as divine Principle, through which we can solve every problem that presents itself; grateful for the harmony it has brought into our home; for its practical use in business life, and for its power in overcoming self, thus destroying anger, resentment, etc.

To sum up, Christian Science gives us a basis for right thinking, and this is what men are seeking; and when they find it and use or apply it, sin, sickness, and death will disappear, for then we shall all know God, from the least unto the greatest.—N. W. Couch, Butte, Mont.
