The Lectures

The Rev. William P. McKenzie of Cambridge, Mass., delivered a lecture on Christian Science Friday evening [Oct. 10] under the auspices of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Mass., in the church edifice at Falmouth, Norway, and St. Paul streets. Mr. McKenzie was introduced by the first reader of The Mother Church, John C. Lathrop, who said:—

Looking back over the ages, there is seen a steady improvement in the motives, manners, and methods of mortal man. Humanity unquestionably is rising out of the limitations and resultant fears of a less enlightened period, and is casting off the swaddling clothes of ignorance, superstition, and human selfishness. A clearer, saner, and more demonstrable sense of human existence is fast dawning upon the ready consciousness, and is leading it out into a world of calm and harmony, of health and fruition. This new world is found to be simply a changed point of view, and this marvel of transformation of the minds of mortals is what the divine message of Christian Science is accomplishing throughout the universe today. It is well that these thousands have gathered here this evening, that they may better understand the rule and operation of this divine healing Word, and receive more of this spiritual blessing. We are grateful for this opportunity, and I take much pleasure in presenting to you one who is ably qualified to execute his sacred mission.
