It has been proved to me that Christian Science is neither a fad nor a fallacy. Many years ago I came to Colorado for rest and change, expecting to return to my duties as teacher after the climate had effected a cure. I heard of Christian Science, and began to read the text-book purely out of curiosity. I became deeply interested in it as a religion, but I did not give it much thought as a remedy for worn-out nerves, irritability, and despondency. I however kept on reading the book, and forgot what I came to Colorado for; but in after years I made a great mistake. Whenever discord of any kind came up, I would call on a practitioner to do my work for me, until I fell into a chronic state of mental laziness, and as a result the old despondency returned and I was if possible more wretched than before I heard of Christian Science. I then, however, came to myself when I was pushed out of the nest, so to speak, and made to use my own wings, which was the greatest help that could possibly have been given me.
After I began to put into practice what I had learned, the light began to dawn and I realized that God is an ever-present help and the only power. My life-purpose now is to help suffering humanity out of their wretchedness into peace and happiness,—the millennial age, when the whole world will rise up and call our Leader blessed for her sublime discovery.—Eva H. Tolman, Denver, Col.
