One day I stepped on a rusty nail, which buried itself in the ball of my foot. It took some time to extricate the nail, but in the evening I walked a distance of about two and a half miles without any difficulty. I had no pain after the nail was removed, although I had a great fear of blood-poisoning and lockjaw, but through the little understanding of Christian Science which I had, the fear was wholly destroyed by evening. A few years before this I was healed of severe physical ailments, as well as of sorrow and doubt, through the reading of Science and Health. I have no words in which to express fully my gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy for Science and Health, but I shall strive through daily watchfulness to live what I learn from its study. The physical healing was nothing in comparison with the overcoming of censoriousness. When I used to attend the Wednesday evening meetings I would mentally criticise many of the speakers,—sometimes because I could not hear what they said, and at others because I did not like what I did hear. This went on for some time, till finally I asked myself, Can I speak as well as those I am criticising? Am I so good that I should judge any one? I then saw I was not a help to the speakers or to myself and I was much ashamed when I found what I had been doing. I am thankful that this phase of error was destroyed long ago. I am pressing on and trying to overcome many other errors of a similar nature which self seems heir to. I have had abundant proof that Christian Science is the truth.
