I wish to give my testimony of healing through a deep sense of gratitude and love to God, and to our dear Leader, who, through the true understanding of the life and teaching of Christ Jesus, has solved the problem of life, and through her devotion to Truth we can participate in this full salvation she has understood.

Until about seven years ago I was groping in the dark and felt partially conscious of it, but how to find the truth that makes free I knew not. I had been a member of an orthodox church since I was twelve years of age, and tried to live a true Christian life. At this time through a dear friend I was persuaded to investigate Christian Science, the first I had ever heard of it, and I rejoice that it did not antagonize me, for I had always felt that the sick should be healed as Jesus healed them, and wondered why that part of the Scriptures was ignored, as it seemed to be by Christian people.

I had been an invalid for years, in fact from childhood, and seemingly had inherited every disease mortals are heir to. I was under the care of many physicians and with all the different verdicts (no two agreeing) I was so filled with fear that life truly was a burden. I was about ready to give up the struggle when this wonderful truth came to me. One physician told me I had heart disease, and, snapping his fingers, said, "You are liable to go out like that." Another one said I never could be a well woman, and wondered that I had not been bedridden, that it was a mystery to him how I kept up. My mother was a confirmed invalid, and had been confined to her bed for years, and I feared that was to come to me through inheritance. Three physicians told me they feared cancer, another, paralysis, and with all these and other troubles I had chronic constipation of which not one of the many physicians could relieve me. I have had many operations,—five at one hospital. I was promised full restoration to health if I would submit to them, but all of them proved ineffectual.
