A number of years ago, before I knew anything of Christian Science, I found myself greatly worried and perplexed about many things, so much so that I did not know which way to turn. I poured forth my tale of woe in a letter to an old friend whom I had not met for a number of years, expecting she would give me some good, practical advice. She did so, and this is what she wrote me, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
I was very much disappointed with the answer, because I could not see how it applied in any material way to my case; God, and the kingdom of heaven were afar off. Those words, however, remained with me, and I pondered them often, but not until I began the study of the Bible and Science and Health did I learn how to seek this "Kingdom of heaven,"—harmony. The Scriptures say, "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind," and Science and Health teaches how this is to be accomplished.
"The testimony of the corporeal senses cannot inform us what is real and what is delusive, but the revelations of Christian Science unlock the treasures of Truth" (Science and Health, p. 70).
