Angels
One of the most beautiful and helpful truths that has dawned on my consciousness as I have gradually come under the influence of Christian Science teaching, has been the new and clear definition of the word "Angels:" "They are pure thoughts from God, winged with Truth and Love, no matter what their individualism may be" (Science and Health, p. 298); "These angels of His presence . . . abound in the spiritual atmosphere of Mind, and consequently reproduce their own characteristics (p. 512); and they are also beautifully described in "Miscellaneous Writings," p. 306.
These willing messengers are unlimited in number, legions of them are at our command at all times, and as we try to put in practice the instructions given in Mrs. Eddy's letter of March, 1899, we not only understand that we are entertaining angels (in some cases perhaps) unawares. but we also understand that we are able to help others. In the divinely natural order of things, we may send out thoughts of love, messengers of truth, with healing in their wings, in every direction and to every one who enters into the daily envirorment or experience of our lives. The more we send out on missions of love and helpfulness, the more there are that come to us, willing, prompt, strong, and faithful messengers, to "Increase our faith, confirm our hope, and strengthen us in Love."
Should we not make a mighty effort, then, to surround ourselves with these invulnerable legions, "The impervious armor," realizing that not a single one of them fails to do effective work and to diminish, to some extent, the sense of error and discord in the world at large.
