It is about sixteen years since I first heard of Christian Science. It came to me in answer to an earnest desire for health and strength. For six years I had been an invalid, confined to my bed the greater part of three years I was very susceptible to draughts and dampness, and had become a member of that class called incurables. The doctors said that I could live but a short time. My suffering at times was intense.
When the practitioner came to me I had heard of some wonderful cures being effected without medicine and by means of Christian Science. She explained briefly that it was God who did the healing, and gave me a few instances of cure. I wish never to forget the joy and spiritual uplifting of that first treatment. All fear of suffering left me. The physical manifestation gradually disappeared, and in a few months I had better health than ever before. In three weeks I was able to go out in any weather (it was in November) without taking cold. Soon after my healing, I, with a number of others, had class instruction from a student of Mrs. Eddy.
It is our earnest desire to be found with the whole armor on, standing firm and alert for Truth. We have had many proofs of God's protecting care and love in the healing and overcoming of sin in ourselves and others. I wish to express my gratitude to our beloved Leader for what she has done and is still doing for humanity.
