Christian Science in the Ascending Scale
The beauty of Christian Science is that it teaches that life is not in the descending, but the ascending scale.
To feed, clothe, and move the body about, to prevent it from lapsing into a state of neglect and careless habits, has ever seemed a most monotonous, though unavoidable, round. However, this is the daily programme, and unaided by Christian Science it proves a tiresome and poorly rewarded task, even to the physically healthy.
Scripture says of the flesh, matter, "Dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return," and yet we see mortal man in his ignorance engaged in the hopeless task of trying to get something out of nothing, or, in other words, expending almost his whole energy in the effort to care for and preserve the physical body, only to have it defeat his attempts and literally return to dust. This exposes the utter uselessness of starting with wrong premises and expecting to avert the necessary conclusions.
