The Standard of Love
Let
us lift up our hearts with a joy untold
For this truth that has come to the lives of men,
A standard that Love has for us unrolled
And raised at the break of the day, again.
Let us shout with one voice on this morning bright,
And follow the colors with hearts that are true!
Let us carry them into the midst of the fight
And hold and protect them,—a faithful few.
Though strife be great and we seem to fall
From the shot of that enemy men call Fear,
Let us rise and go forward, forgetting all
But the fact that our Leader is calling, "Here!"
When the smoke of the battle shall seem to cloud
The light of the sun and our colors dim,
No less fair is our banner—we cheer it, proud
To follow it e'en at this hour, for Him.
"Go on through the gates of the city of God;
Prepare ye the way!" is the Master's command.
Let us raise for the people the standard of Love
And obey when the voice of our Leader cries
"Stand."
