The Ideal Teacher
For nineteen hundred years the world has known of a plan for the uplifting of mankind so comprehensive, and yet so profoundly simple, that it has literally stood like a rock amidst the seething maelstrom of mortal opinions. But until the advent of Christian Science the world, in large part, has been endeavoring to use every other plan under the sun except this one,—the one set forth by Jesus.
We have called ourselves Christians, and have admitted that Jesus was the Great Physician. Yet, when we desired to alleviate pain and suffering, we have ignored his spiritual method of healing and turned to the material.
If we consider the plans for the government and operation of all these undertakings for the betterment of man,—for that is their avowed purpose, and many a noble life is offered on its altar,—in how many do we find, as a basis for work, the thought and method of the Great Physician, the Great Lawgiver, the Great Teacher?
