When I was a small boy, I injured my foot in such a way...

When I was a small boy, I injured my foot in such a way that I was bed-fast for some time. I was doctored for quite a while, and I was finally able to be up and around, although any cold weather or a jar to my foot would bring the old pains back again.

Years rolled by, and in 1899, I hurt myself by lifting a weight that was too heavy. I went to a doctor, and he informed me that the trouble was rupture. He attended me for a while, till I got so I could do some light work. After some months, it came back again, and one doctor said, "You will never be cured, unless you submit to a surgical operation." Well, I had too much fear of the knife to consent, so time passed away, until, in the spring of 1901, when, through the help of a lady friend, where I was staying at the time, I was led to Christian Science.

At first it all seemed a mystery, but the more I read in Science and Health the plainer it grew, until my bonds fell off, and I was free. What peace and joy are mine on account of this truth.
