It is now just eight years since our attention was first called to Science and Health, and from the reading of the first line of the Preface—"To those leaning on the sustaining Infinite, to-day is big with blessings"—my husband and I have never ceased to give thanks for the innumerable moral and physical benefits which we and our children have received.
Within these eight years we have had a few serious troubles, one a badly broken finger which was completely healed in ten days, only a slight scar remaining,—divine Mind was the healer. Not even a bandage was used nor was the finger set, simply a soft rag was bound loosely about the hand to keep it clean. Our little daughter was knocked down and run over by a bicycle and left in an unconscious state. On coming to she was for a few minutes very ill, but was completely healed in twenty-four hours. The three children had an attack of measles, but were all healed and out within three days. A bad case of mumps was healed in one day. Our two valuable little dogs had such a bad case of malignant mange that a veterinary surgeon thought they should be shot. They had lost nearly all their hair and one was covered with sores. They were perfectly healed through Christian Science treatment, and their hair all returned more beautiful than ever in a surprisingly short time. I shall add only one more case of healing; a very severe and seemingly serious case of poisoning. My husband and two daughters were taken very alarmingly ill within an hour after our luncheon, and for a moment, as I was alone with them, it gave me a little sense of fear, but I quickly realized that though it might be a thousand people, only the one claim of "poison' had to be handled; that to God all things are possible, and that He puts all enemies under His feet. In less than an hour they were all comfortable and sleeping peacefully, and within three hours were about as usual with no bad effects.—Louise V. Mockridge, London, Eng.
